CanadianSindhiCommunityProtestMOttawa: Alleging forced conversion of minor Hindu girls in Pakistan, the Canadian Sindhi community, reportedly, staged a protest at the Mississauga Celebration Square.

The protesters allege that many Sindhi Hindu girls were being forcibly converted with instances of innocent girls being kidnapped and raped in Pakistan.

The protesters were holding placards stating “Stop the persecution of religious minorities in Pakistan,” “Pakistan stop kidnapping of Hindu girls, stop forced conversion of Hindu girls.” They also shouted slogans like “We want justice.”

Reportedly, this is the second protest by the community in Canada in the last three months, demanding action against the conversion of Hindu girls. Sources say that a protest was staged in Canada in April following allegations that 2 Hindu girls belonging to the scheduled caste community in Pakistan were abducted on the eve of Holi and were later forcibly converted to Islam. Reportedly, the girls were abducted by the people from ‘Kohbar’ and ‘Malik’ tribes on March 21.

Expressing its concerns over the incident, India through an official letter to Pakistan Foreign office, asked its government to protect and ensure the safety of its citizens from the minority community.
