
29-Year-Old Man Arrested for Extorting Money from Car Passenger in Bengaluru
Bnegaluru: Police in Bengaluru have arrested a 29-year-old man, Jameel Khan, alias Saleem, for allegedly extorting money from a car passenger. Khan, a resident of Mysuru, was in Bengaluru when the incident occurred on June 14.
According to the police, Khan intercepted a car in Jayanagar 4th Block and accused the driver of damaging his scooter. He threatened the car owner and extorted Rs 40,000, claiming it was compensation for the alleged damage.
The victim reported the extortion to the Jayanagar police, who filed an FIR under IPC Section 384 (extortion). On August 18, police apprehended Khan and recovered the extorted amount of Rs 40,000. They also seized Khan’s scooter.
Further investigation revealed that Khan is a serial extortionist with 17 previous cases across Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Maddur. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover additional details about Khan’s criminal activities.
