Stuttgart: Mercedes-Benz has revealed the updated 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680, introducing a more powerful V8 engine, refreshed exterior styling and a host of new luxury and technology features. The flagship luxury SUV retains its signature design while receiving meaningful upgrades aimed at enhancing performance, comfort and exclusivity.
The latest model is powered by an upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that delivers 603 hp and 850 Nm of torque, making it more powerful than its predecessor.
Refreshed exterior with illuminated details
The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 receives subtle but noticeable design updates at the front.
It features redesigned LED headlamps with dual three-pointed-star daytime running light signatures and a larger chrome-finished grille. The grille surround and the Maybach lettering are now illuminated, while buyers can also opt for an illuminated Mercedes-Benz bonnet emblem.
The front bumper has been slightly revised, preserving the SUV’s commanding road presence.
Mercedes-Benz has also introduced new exterior paint finishes, including Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic, expanding the range of premium colour options.
The luxury SUV now comes with 22-inch alloy wheels as standard, while 23-inch monoblock alloy wheels are available as an optional upgrade.
Powered side steps remain standard and now feature integrated lighting for easier entry and exit at night. Illuminated Maybach logo projectors on the doors further enhance the premium experience.
High-tech cabin gets Hyperscreen
Inside, the facelifted GLS 680 adopts Mercedes-Benz’s latest Hyperscreen setup, featuring three 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment system and front passenger display.
The system runs on the company’s latest MB.OS software platform, which supports over-the-air software updates and integrates an AI assistant combining ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot technologies.
The dashboard has also been redesigned to complement the larger digital interface. The central air-conditioning vents have been widened, while turbine-style vents continue to feature at both ends of the dashboard.
Despite the increased digitalisation, Mercedes-Benz has retained physical buttons and rotary controls for the four-zone climate control system, offering easier operation while driving.
The cabin also benefits from improved sound insulation to deliver an even quieter ride.
Enhanced comfort and luxury
Mercedes-Maybach has further upgraded passenger comfort with enhanced massage functions for both front and rear occupants.
Rear-seat passengers now receive massage-equipped footrests, while new leather upholstery options and colour combinations provide greater personalisation.
The premium Burmester 3D surround sound system has also been upgraded. It now features 15 speakers powered by a 710W amplifier, delivering an immersive audio experience throughout the cabin.
More powerful V8 with mild-hybrid assistance
The biggest mechanical update comes under the bonnet.
The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s upgraded M177 Evo 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, producing 603 hp and 850 Nm of torque.
Compared with the outgoing model, power has increased by 53 hp, while torque has risen by 121 Nm.
The engine is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which can provide an additional temporary boost of 23 hp during acceleration.
Mercedes-Benz has also recalibrated the steering system to improve agility and driver feedback.
The standard air suspension now features cloud-based predictive damping technology, which uses road data collected from other connected Mercedes vehicles to automatically adjust suspension settings for improved ride comfort.
Focus remains on luxury
While the overall silhouette of the GLS 680 remains largely unchanged, the latest updates reinforce its position as one of the most luxurious SUVs in the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
With enhanced technology, a stronger V8 engine, improved ride quality and additional comfort features, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 aims to offer an even more refined ownership experience for buyers seeking flagship luxury and performance.
