New Delhi: Kawasaki has refreshed its Z-series naked motorcycle range for the 2027 model year with new colour options for the Z650 S, Z900 and higher-spec Z900 SE. The update has been announced for the European market, while Kawasaki has not yet confirmed whether these new colour schemes will be introduced in India.
The latest update is primarily cosmetic. The motorcycles continue with their existing mechanical and technical specifications, making the new colours the main change for the 2027 model year. Kawasaki has also confirmed the Z650 S, Z900, Z900 70 kW and Z900 SE as part of its 2027 European line-up.
Kawasaki Z650 S gets three new colours
The Kawasaki Z650 S, which was introduced as a more aggressively styled evolution of the Z650 platform, gets three new colour combinations for 2027.
The options announced for the European market are Ebony/Metallic Carbon Gray, Candy Persimmon Red/Metallic Carbon Gray and Pearl Blizzard White/Ebony/Candy Lime Green Type 3.
The Z650 S was introduced with styling inspired by Kawasaki’s larger Z900. It features broader radiator shrouds, a wider handlebar and redesigned bodywork, while retaining the company’s distinctive Sugomi design language.
The motorcycle is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. The model also features Kawasaki Traction Control and a colour TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki Rideology.
For 2027, however, Kawasaki has not announced a major mechanical revision to the Z650 S. The focus remains on giving buyers more choices in terms of exterior appearance.
Z900 also receives three colour options
The larger Kawasaki Z900 has also received a three-colour update for 2027.
The new combinations include Ebony/Metallic Carbon Gray, Candy Persimmon Red/Metallic Carbon Gray and Pearl Blizzard White/Plasma Lime Green/Ebony. The same colour choices are also available for the 70 kW version of the Z900 in markets where that variant is offered.
The new colours give the Z900 a different visual identity while retaining the aggressive styling associated with Kawasaki’s Z range.
The Z900 is positioned above the Z650 family and uses a larger engine, making it the more performance-focused motorcycle of the two. Kawasaki’s 2027 announcement indicates that the core mechanical and technical package remains unchanged from the previous model year.
The company has also confirmed smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki Rideology, along with a range of genuine accessories for personalisation.
Z900 SE gets a distinctive finish
The range-topping Z900 SE gets a separate colour treatment for 2027.
It will be offered in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray/Metallic Matte Carbon Gray/Golden Blazed Green. The combination gives the motorcycle a more premium appearance, with green highlights contrasting against the darker bodywork.
The Z900 SE is not simply a cosmetic upgrade over the standard Z900. It comes with higher-specification hardware, including Brembo brakes and Öhlins suspension. These components are intended to provide improved braking performance and suspension capability compared with the standard motorcycle.
For 2027, Kawasaki has retained this higher-specification equipment while updating the model’s colour presentation.
What about India?
The 2027 colour update is particularly relevant for Indian Kawasaki buyers because the standard Z650 and Z900 are already sold in the country.
However, the Z650 S and Z900 SE are not currently part of Kawasaki’s Indian range. The Z650 S is primarily positioned for markets such as Europe, while India continues to receive the standard Z650.
The Z900 is available in India, but Kawasaki has not yet confirmed whether the newly announced European colour options will be offered on the Indian-spec motorcycle.
This means Indian buyers should not assume that the new 2027 colours will automatically arrive here. Kawasaki could announce separate updates for the Indian market at a later stage.
Prices announced for European market
Kawasaki has announced European pricing and availability for the new models.
In Germany, the 2027 Z650 S is listed from €7,545 ex-factory, while the Z900 starts at €9,695. The Z900 SE is priced from €11,845 ex-factory. The German market information lists the Z650 S and Z900 SE for availability from September/November depending on the variant.
These prices are European market figures and should not be used as an indication of potential Indian prices.
Kawasaki has not announced Indian pricing for these 2027 colour updates. The existing Indian Z900, meanwhile, is available in different colour combinations from the European version.
Mainly a colour update for 2027
The latest Z-series announcement follows a broader Kawasaki approach for several 2027 motorcycles, where styling and colour changes are being introduced without major changes to the underlying mechanical package.
For the Z650 S and Z900, Kawasaki has retained the existing engines, chassis and technology while giving customers additional colour choices. The Z900 SE continues to stand apart with its Brembo braking hardware and Öhlins suspension.
For riders looking for a new motorcycle with a fresh appearance rather than a major technical overhaul, the updated colour palette could make the 2027 models more appealing.
For India, however, the key question remains whether Kawasaki will bring any of these new colours to the Z900 and whether the Z650 S or Z900 SE could eventually be introduced. As of now, there is no official confirmation on either front.
