Hannover: Kia has unveiled the new PV7, its second dedicated electric Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany. Available in Passenger and Cargo versions, the new electric van is designed to serve a wide range of applications, including passenger transport, logistics, fleet operations, shuttle services and small and medium-sized businesses.

The PV7 expands Kia’s electric commercial vehicle portfolio following the PV5. Built on the company’s dedicated E-GMP.S architecture, the new model combines a flat-floor layout, flexible interiors, connected technology and multiple body configurations.

Kia plans to launch the PV7 in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027, with additional markets and derivatives expected to follow.

Kia PV7 offers up to 9 seats

The PV7 Passenger has been developed to provide flexible seating for different transportation requirements. It will be available in Compact and Long body configurations.

Globally, the Passenger version can accommodate up to nine occupants, while Kia will offer an 11-seat configuration in the Korean market. The model is aimed at applications such as employee transportation, hotel and airport transfers, rental fleets, tourism and family use.

The 7-seat configuration features removable seats mounted on long rails, allowing the cabin to be reconfigured according to passenger and luggage requirements. The 9-seat version can also be configured with or without a fourth row.

Rear climate control, USB-C charging ports and additional storage options are among the features aimed at improving passenger comfort.

Cargo version offers up to 1,200 kg payload

Alongside the Passenger version, Kia has introduced the PV7 Cargo for commercial applications.

Depending on the configuration, the Cargo version offers up to 8.0 cubic metres of cargo space. The Cargo Long provides up to 6.1 cubic metres, while the High Roof version increases available cargo volume to 8.0 cubic metres.

Maximum payload capacity can reach 1,200 kg, although the exact capacity varies by configuration. The Cargo Long version can carry up to 1,165 kg, according to Kia’s preliminary specifications.

The vehicle also features a relatively low loading height and can accommodate up to three Euro pallets in the Long configuration, making it suitable for delivery and logistics operations.

Kia PV7 gets up to 460 km range

The PV7 will be offered with two nickel-cobalt-manganese battery options — 71.5 kWh and 96.2 kWh.

The Long Range Cargo version delivers more than 460 km of claimed range under the WLTP testing cycle on a single charge. Depending on the configuration, the electric powertrain can produce up to 200 kW and 420 Nm of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard at launch, while Kia plans to introduce an all-wheel-drive version in the future.

The range figure makes the PV7 particularly relevant for commercial operators looking for an electric vehicle that can handle longer daily routes without frequent charging stops.

800V architecture enables fast charging

Kia has equipped the PV7 with an 800V electrical architecture. Using a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in the mid-20-minute range.

The PV7 also introduces dual charging ports, with a front port supporting AC and DC charging and an optional rear-side port designed for AC charging.

This setup is intended to provide operators with greater flexibility depending on where the vehicle is parked and how it is being used.

Multiple versions planned

Kia says the PV7 will eventually be offered in 23 variants, covering Cargo, Passenger, Chassis Cab and various conversion models.

The company is also positioning the PV7 as more than an electric van by integrating software and fleet-management services. Its Kia Business Solutions Portal is designed to support fleet management, charging, maintenance and day-to-day operations.

Inside the cabin, the PV7 features Kia’s Pleos Connect system, based on Android Automotive, with connected navigation, an app marketplace and over-the-air updates. The vehicle also incorporates AI-based voice functionality for controlling various vehicle and navigation functions.

Kia PV7 launch timeline

Kia will initially launch the PV7 Passenger and Cargo models in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027. The company has not announced an India launch timeline for the electric van.

The PV7 will be displayed alongside Kia’s broader PBV range at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover from September 15 to 20.

With its flexible seating, up to 1,200 kg payload capacity, more than 460 km of claimed range and 800V fast-charging technology, the PV7 marks a significant expansion of Kia’s ambitions in the electric commercial and passenger-transport market.
