Land Rover has reduced the price of the Defender 110 in India by up to ₹34 lakh following the start of local assembly. The luxury SUV, previously sold as a completely built-up (CBU) import, is now being assembled in India through the completely knocked down (CKD) route.

The move is expected to make the Defender more accessible to Indian buyers while retaining its premium positioning and off-road capabilities.

Local assembly brings prices down

The price reduction follows Jaguar Land Rover’s decision to assemble the Defender locally, helping reduce costs associated with importing fully built vehicles. The company has already adopted local assembly for models such as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India.

The locally assembled Defender 110 is available in the X-Dynamic HSE trim, with three engine options reported. The maximum saving of ₹34 lakh will depend on the variant and its earlier price.

Engine options and features

The Defender 110 is a five-door luxury SUV known for its rugged design, four-wheel-drive system and off-road technology. Its range includes petrol and diesel powertrains, while equipment varies by variant.

The model is designed for both everyday driving and challenging terrain, with features such as Terrain Response technology and advanced suspension systems available across the range.

What the price cut means for buyers

The reduction could improve the Defender’s competitiveness in India’s luxury SUV market. Local assembly allows manufacturers to manage production and import-related costs differently from fully imported vehicles.

The price change is driven by local assembly rather than a direct benefit from a free-trade agreement. Buyers should check the latest variant-wise prices with authorised Land Rover dealerships, as the final amount will depend on the selected configuration and applicable charges.
