New Delhi: German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the high-performance Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.52 crore. The latest iteration brings enhanced driving dynamics, sportier styling, and advanced performance features to the AMG GLE Coupe lineup.

Focus on performance upgrades

The standout feature of the Performance Edition is the inclusion of the AMG Dynamic Plus Package as standard, significantly enhancing both handling and driving engagement.

A key highlight is the AMG Active Ride Control system, which offers active roll stabilisation. This technology improves cornering ability and reduces body roll, making the SUV more agile during high-speed and spirited driving.

The SUV is also equipped with a high-performance composite braking system, featuring ventilated and perforated discs. The red brake callipers not only improve braking efficiency but also add a sporty visual touch.

Driver-focused cockpit experience

Inside the cabin, the Performance Edition emphasises a driver-centric layout. It features an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in premium Nappa leather, integrated with controls for easy access to driving functions.

The SUV also gets AMG Track Pace, a telemetry system integrated into the MBUX interface. This system records lap times, acceleration, braking, and steering inputs, allowing drivers to analyse their driving performance in detail.

Sporty design and premium styling

On the exterior, the Performance Edition stands out with 22-inch AMG cross-spoke alloy wheels finished in matt black with a high-sheen rim. These wheels enhance both aesthetics and high-speed stability.

Other design highlights include the signature AMG grille with vertical chrome slats, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, and a sporty rear profile with wraparound LED taillights, a subtle spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets.

Luxury interior and comfort features

The cabin retains Mercedes-Benz’s signature luxury with dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation. Additional features include a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, and a Burmester 13-speaker sound system.

Comfort is further enhanced with ventilated, heated, and memory-enabled front seats, wireless charging, and four-zone climate control, ensuring a premium experience for both driver and passengers.

Powerful engine and performance figures

Powering the SUV is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-petrol engine that delivers 435 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The Performance Edition accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 250 kmph, placing it firmly in the high-performance luxury SUV segment.

Conclusion

The launch of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition strengthens the brand’s performance portfolio in India. With a blend of power, technology, and luxury, the SUV is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a dynamic yet premium driving experience.
