New Delhi: Mini has expanded its India portfolio with the launch of the Mini Cooper S Convertible JCW Pack, priced at ₹61.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a limited-run model, the new variant carries a premium of ₹2.50 lakh over the standard Cooper S Convertible and is being imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

Bookings for the model opened on April 14, with deliveries already underway across the country.

Sportier design with JCW styling

The JCW Pack primarily enhances the visual appeal and sporty character of the convertible, without introducing any mechanical changes. On the exterior, the car gets a more aggressive design with updated grille, bumpers, side skirts, and door sills.

It rides on 17-inch JCW Sprint Spoke Black alloy wheels and is offered in colour options such as Legend Grey and Midnight Black, along with contrasting black elements and optional sport stripes that further accentuate its performance-oriented styling.

Signature soft-top roof

The Cooper S Convertible continues to feature Mini’s signature electrically operated soft-top roof. It can be fully opened in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 kmph, while closing takes around 15 seconds.

Additionally, the roof can be partially opened to function like a sunroof, offering flexibility for different driving conditions.

Cabin and features

Inside, the cabin reflects the sporty JCW theme with dedicated sport seats finished in Vescin/Cord upholstery. The car also gets a JCW steering wheel with paddle shifters for a more engaging driving experience.

The dashboard follows a minimalist design, centred around a circular OLED touchscreen that integrates infotainment and instrumentation, powered by Mini Operating System 9.

Key features include:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Head-up display
  • Harman Kardon premium audio system
  • Digital Key Plus functionality

Engine and performance

Powering the convertible is a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 201 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The engine enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 237 kmph.

Despite the JCW Pack’s sporty upgrades, the powertrain remains unchanged from the standard model.

Practicality and safety

As expected from a compact convertible, practicality is limited. Boot space stands at 160 litres with the roof folded, expanding to 215 litres when the roof is up.

On the safety front, the car is equipped with Level 1 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including front collision warning, lane departure warning, and attentiveness assist.

Standard safety features also include multiple airbags, ABS with dynamic stability control, a rear-view camera, and parking assist.

Conclusion

With the launch of the Cooper S Convertible JCW Pack, Mini is targeting enthusiasts looking for a stylish, open-top driving experience with enhanced sporty aesthetics. While the updates are largely cosmetic, the limited-run positioning and premium pricing add to its exclusivity in the Indian market.
