New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelifted Baleno in India at a starting price of Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated premium hatchback gets revised styling, a new three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, additional comfort features and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The 2026 Baleno facelift retains the familiar hatchback silhouette but receives several equipment and technology upgrades as Maruti Suzuki looks to strengthen its position in the premium hatchback segment. The model continues to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
Baleno gets subtle exterior changes
The facelifted Baleno retains the overall design and proportions of the outgoing model, but Maruti Suzuki has made several changes to its front and rear sections.
The car gets revised projector LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, along with a redesigned grille and front bumper. The side profile remains largely unchanged, although the facelift brings a new alloy-wheel design.
At the rear, the changes are relatively subtle, with the updated Baleno receiving a shark-fin antenna among the revisions.
Maruti Suzuki has also introduced a new Enigmatic Teal exterior colour for the updated hatchback.
New dual-tone cabin and ventilated seats
Inside, the 2026 Baleno receives a dual-tone blue-and-black cabin theme. The dashboard layout remains broadly familiar, with a floating infotainment display positioned at the centre and physical controls for key functions.
One of the major additions is front ventilated seats, which Maruti Suzuki is offering as a first-in-segment feature. The updated car also gets a wireless charger, TPMS and a Clarion sound system, adding to its comfort and convenience package.
The combination of revised upholstery and new equipment is aimed at giving the premium hatchback a more upmarket feel without significantly changing its existing cabin layout.
Level 2 ADAS adds major safety upgrade
The biggest highlight of the new Baleno is its upgraded safety technology.
Maruti Suzuki has introduced a Level 2 ADAS suite, bringing several driver-assistance functions to the hatchback. These include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, high beam assist and forward collision warning, among other functions.
The car also gets six airbags, adding to its standard safety equipment.
The introduction of Level 2 ADAS represents a significant technology upgrade for the Baleno, particularly as driver-assistance features become increasingly common in higher-priced cars.
New 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine
Another major change comes under the bonnet.
The facelifted Baleno gets Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, which is already used in models such as the Swift and Dzire. The engine is offered with manual and automatic transmission options.
The company has also introduced a CNG variant with an automatic transmission, expanding the powertrain choices available to buyers.
The move to the Z-Series engine marks an important mechanical change for the Baleno, which previously used a different petrol powertrain.
Baleno continues in premium hatchback segment
The updated Baleno continues to be sold as a premium hatchback through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa retail network.
With the facelift, Maruti Suzuki has focused on improving areas that are increasingly important to buyers, particularly safety technology, convenience and powertrain choices.
The addition of Level 2 ADAS places the Baleno among the more technology-focused offerings in its segment, while features such as ventilated seats and a wireless charger add to its premium positioning.
The car continues to face competition from the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza, making the feature upgrades important as manufacturers compete for buyers in the premium hatchback market.
Price and positioning
With an entry price of Rs 6.10 lakh ex-showroom, the facelifted Baleno remains positioned as a relatively accessible premium hatchback despite the substantial addition of safety and comfort technology.
The combination of the new Z-Series engine, automatic CNG option, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and refreshed styling gives the Baleno a broader equipment package than before.
The facelift arrives ahead of the festive buying season, when demand for passenger vehicles traditionally receives a boost. Maruti Suzuki is therefore entering an important period with a substantially updated version of one of its key premium hatchbacks.
The 2026 Baleno facelift’s success will ultimately depend on how buyers respond to the new technology, engine options and pricing in an increasingly competitive segment.
