Bengaluru: Ola Electric is expanding beyond electric scooters and moving deeper into the energy storage sector with a new three-tier Shakti portfolio designed for homes, businesses and large-scale power applications.

The company unveiled Shakti Gen2 for residential users, Shakti Rack for commercial applications and Mahashakti for large-scale energy storage. The portfolio ranges from 4.6 kWh residential systems to a containerised storage system with a capacity of 6.26 MWh.

New products target different energy needs

The new portfolio is built around Ola Electric’s indigenous Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cell technology. The company said Shakti Gen2 can be controlled through an app and integrated with solar power using its solar charge controller.

Mahashakti is aimed at manufacturing facilities, warehouses, commercial buildings, retail outlets and data infrastructure. A Mahashakti rack offers 257 kWh of energy capacity and more than 125 kW of expandable power capability.

Ola Electric said the expansion is part of its broader vision of supporting India’s energy independence. Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has previously identified energy storage as one of three important demand engines for the company’s cell manufacturing business, alongside electric vehicles and external cell sales.

Battery business gets bigger focus

The company said its Shakti business had generated more than 50,000 customer leads in FY26, including interest from telecom companies, petrol pumps, retail chains and other commercial users.

The expansion comes as Ola Electric continues to invest in its battery and electric-vehicle operations. Its parent company approved ₹2,000 crore in investments into subsidiaries focused on EV and battery manufacturing earlier this year.

The move marks a significant shift in Ola Electric’s ambitions, positioning its battery technology for applications beyond mobility and into India’s growing energy storage market.
