Tata Motors has officially launched the 2026 facelift version of the Tata Tiago EV in India, with introductory prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated electric hatchback receives major cosmetic upgrades, a redesigned premium cabin, new technology features and improved practicality, while continuing to remain one of the most affordable electric cars available in the Indian market.
Industry observers believe the facelift is aimed at strengthening Tata’s position in the growing entry-level electric vehicle segment by offering a more stylish and feature-rich urban EV experience.
Prices and variants announced
The 2026 Tiago EV facelift has been introduced in three variants across two battery pack options.
The 19 kWh medium-range version starts at Rs 6.99 lakh for the Smart variant, while the Pure Plus variant is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh.
For buyers opting for the larger 24 kWh long-range battery, the Pure Plus variant is priced at Rs 9.49 lakh, while the top-end Creative Plus variant costs Rs 9.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Tata Motors has also continued offering the vehicle under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, under which the car can be purchased at a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh plus battery usage charges of Rs 2.6 per kilometre.
Futuristic exterior styling introduced
The facelifted Tiago EV gets a significantly revised exterior design with a cleaner and more futuristic appearance compared to the outgoing model.
At the front, Tata has introduced a fully blanked-off body-coloured fascia replacing the earlier grille design, giving the hatchback a more EV-focused identity.
The bumper has also been redesigned with smoother surfaces, while the slimmer LED headlamps now feature a sharper and more angular look.
Unlike the earlier projector units, the facelift now gets reflector-style LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps.
Revised rear design and aerodynamic wheels
The side profile remains largely similar to the outgoing version, although Tata has introduced redesigned 14-inch steel wheels with aerodynamic wheel covers.
The vehicle continues to feature blacked-out outside rear-view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, wheel arch cladding and EV badging on the doors.
At the rear, the facelift receives revised LED tail lamps connected through a faux red strip, creating a connected tail-lamp effect.
The updated tail lamps also feature a new vertical slat-style lighting signature, while the rear bumper has been redesigned for a sharper appearance.
The reverse camera for the new 360-degree camera system has also been repositioned near the number plate housing.
Cabin receives major upgrades
The interior of the Tiago EV facelift has undergone substantial changes aimed at improving comfort and modern appeal.
The dashboard now features a dual-tone theme with redesigned horizontal elements and gloss-black inserts. Fabric upholstery has replaced leatherette seats, which Tata claims improves seating comfort.
The electric hatchback also receives a new steering wheel featuring Tata EV branding.
A floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and updated digital instrument cluster dominate the dashboard layout, significantly modernising the cabin experience.
Importantly, Tata has retained physical climate control buttons and rotary knobs instead of moving all controls into the touchscreen interface.
New features improve comfort and safety
The updated Tiago EV now comes equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a four-speaker sound system, connected car technology and front and rear Type-C charging ports.
Additional convenience features include cruise control, auto-folding ORVMs, push-button start-stop, cooled glovebox and rear AC vents.
Safety features have also received major upgrades with the addition of a segment-first 360-degree camera system with blind-view monitor.
The hatchback further gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
Industry analysts expect the updated Tiago EV to continue Tata’s strong focus on vehicle safety in the affordable EV segment.
Battery options and driving range
The Tiago EV facelift continues with the same battery pack options as before.
The smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack produces 61 PS and 110 Nm torque while offering a claimed MIDC range of 226 km.
The larger 24 kWh battery pack generates 75 PS and 114 Nm torque with a claimed range of 285 km.
Both battery variants support DC fast charging, allowing charging from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 35 minutes.
The smaller battery pack is expected to appeal to city commuters seeking an affordable electric vehicle for daily urban travel, while the larger battery option caters to users requiring better range flexibility.
Rivals in affordable EV segment
The facelifted Tiago EV will continue competing against the MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3 in the Indian electric vehicle market.
It also serves as a more affordable alternative to the Tata Punch EV.
With updated styling, additional premium features and competitive pricing, the Tiago EV facelift is expected to strengthen Tata Motors’ presence in India’s rapidly expanding electric mobility segment.
