Three doctors were killed, and another was critically injured in a high-speed car crash on the Ananthapur-Bellary highway in Andhra Pradesh, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred near Vidapanakallu when the doctors, returning from a holiday in Hong Kong, lost control of their car while driving at high speed. The vehicle crashed into a tree by the roadside, instantly killing Dr. Yoghes, Dr. Govindaray, and Dr. Amresh from Bellary, Karnataka.
The critically injured doctor was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals for emergency treatment.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic deaths. Dr. K. Raghavendra, President of IMA, extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged all drivers to exercise caution while driving, especially on highways.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections for rash driving and have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
