Bengaluru: It has been found that since December 1, 2,127 passengers arrived from Britain to Karnataka, only 233 of whom underwent Covid-19 tests.
It can be noted that, since a new COVID-19 strain was discovered in the United Kingdom last week, all those who travelled from Britain to Karnataka are now under the health department’s scanner.
According to sources, a huge number of passengers from Britain are from Bengaluru and the rest are from major cities like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Belagavi etc. However, many of these passengers are now living in remote villages across the state like in Aldur in Chikkamagalur, Arakalgod in Hassan etc.
Sources added that the health department has sought the contact details of all the passengers from two airlines which operated flights to Bengaluru from various origins in Britain.
According to the authorities, by Wednesday evening, the details of all the passengers is expected to reach the health department and will be sent to all the taluks to trace the passengers and ensure that they will undergo Covid-19 tests immediately.
