Bengaluru: Nine passengers who returned from the United Kingdom in December have tested positive for Covid 19. Among them, five are from Shivamogga and 4 are currently in Bengaluru.
According to authorities, their swab samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune to find out whether they are infected by the new mutated variant of the virus.
According to the new rule issued for UK passengers, all the passengers who have returned from the UK have to immediately go for swab testing.
However, the biggest challenge is tracing such returnees. Even though they are well-read and educated, they are not coming forward for the testing. Many are not even sharing details of their location.
A person who returned to Bellary from Bengaluru was traced by the District administration after 24 hours.
“There is no individual responsibility which is the cause of concern,” explained authorities.
