The survey of urban settlements within the Belagavi cantonment has been suspended due to the unavailability of essential maps. These settlements are set to be transferred to the Belagavi City Corporation, which requested the necessary maps from the Cantonment Board. However, the Cantonment Board has informed the Corporation that a formal application is required to obtain the maps, which has delayed the process.

The survey, which was briefly conducted by city staff alongside their other duties, was halted after just one day due to the absence of the maps. The Municipal Corporation has formally requested the maps, and the survey will resume once they are received.

A written request for the maps has been submitted by the Municipal Corporation, with Collector Mohammad Roshan actively involved in the discussions between the Cantonment Board and the Municipal Corporation. The Cantonment Board has cited regulations that prevent direct access to the maps, causing frustration among municipal officials and staff.

A recent meeting with DC Belagavi and other officials resolved disagreements over the scope of the transfer. It was decided to conduct a joint survey with the Defense Department officials, and DC Mohammad Roshan instructed the collection of all necessary documents. The survey, which began on July 26, covered 60 acres from RTO Circle to the Fort Vegetable Market but was halted due to the missing maps.

Residents are advocating for the transfer of all settlements, but the Board has proposed transferring only select colonies, leading to ongoing disputes and delays.
