Belagavi: Over 150 war-wounded soldiers gathered at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) on Tuesday for a grievance redressal rally and seminar organized by the War Wounded Foundation (WWF). Established in 2002 by Lt. Gen. Vijay Oberoi, the foundation has spent the past 23 years addressing the concerns of injured soldiers and officers.

The rally received overwhelming participation, with former soldiers from across India attending with their families. The event featured a grievance redressal and victim assistance programme, drawing support from several organizations and social service activists. Many retired soldiers took the stage to share their experiences and hardships while serving in the Indian Army.

Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, Commandant, MLIRC, emphasized the sacrifices of war-wounded soldiers, noting that “more soldiers are wounded in battle than those who die, and their families face lifelong challenges.” He praised WWF’s efforts in supporting these veterans.

The seminar was attended by Lt. Gen. Asit Mistri, President of WWF, and Brigadier C. Sandeep Kumar (Retd.), WWF South’s Regional Director, who reaffirmed their commitment to assisting injured soldiers and their families.

Such initiatives continue to play a crucial role in ensuring war veterans receive the respect, care, and support they deserve.
