Belagavi: Law enforcement officials in Belagavi successfully apprehended a murder suspect in Kalaburagi just a day after the gruesome incident. The victim, 47-year-old Shivanagouda Patil from Baloga village in Khanapur taluk, was mercilessly killed on Tuesday. His lifeless body was discovered in an isolated area near Gadikoppa village.
The perpetrator, identified as Basappa Hosatti from Beedi village in Khanapur taluk, allegedly bludgeoned the victim’s head with a heavy stone. However, in his haste, he abandoned his motorcycle at the crime scene. A local farmer, who happened to pass by, noticed the horrifying sight and immediately alerted authorities.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guled confirmed the swift arrest of Basappa in Kalaburagi. The Khanapur police, coordinating with their Kalaburagi counterparts, took the suspect into their custody. Upon questioning, he reportedly admitted to committing the crime.
