During the second phase of the Janakrosh Yatra in Belagavi, BJP state chief BY Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of widespread corruption, mismanagement, and policy failures within just 20 months of taking power. Vijayendra claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah misled the public with empty promises that have now turned into burdens. He highlighted Karnataka’s rising cost of living, alleging that the state had become the most expensive under Congress rule.
Vijayendra also criticized the Gandhi family, referencing the National Herald case. He accused them of misusing public trust, turning the historical newspaper into a private business venture through the Young India Trust for massive profits on minimal investment. “This is Rahul Gandhi’s version of development, which even Ambani couldn’t match,” he remarked sarcastically.
On minority welfare, Vijayendra pointed to what he called “appeasement politics,” citing increased scholarships for Muslim students abroad, financial aid for Muslim women’s marriages, and 4% reservation in contracts. He questioned, “Are there no poor people among Hindus?”
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka also criticized the government, dismissing any BJP role in rising prices of essentials like petrol and milk. He predicted Siddaramaiah’s tenure would end by December and called the government’s budget a “duplicate,” hinting at upcoming tax raids. BJP MP Jagadish Shettar further claimed Congress would only secure 35 seats in the 2028 elections and labeled Karnataka as the #1 corrupt state in the nation.
