In a disturbing incident on Monday, three religious books were discovered burnt in a field near Belagavi, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities. The books, which were taken from an under-construction religious building on Sunday night, were reportedly found 200 meters away, burned beyond recognition.

According to police, the miscreants broke into the building, where the books were kept on the ground floor, and removed them during the night. When worshippers arrived to offer prayers the following morning, they noticed the books were missing. After searching the area, the burnt remains were found in the nearby field.

The incident sparked protests from local community members, who have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible. A peace meeting was held with leaders from various communities to discuss the matter and restore calm.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang confirmed that a case has been filed and teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits. Adding to the mystery, the CCTV camera at the site had been removed for repairs on the same day the incident occurred, hindering the investigation. The police remain committed to resolving the case promptly.
