Belagavi: In a heartbreaking incident from Karnataka’s Belagavi district, a 24-year-old youth died by suicide following a family disagreement over the purchase of an expensive smartphone. The deceased, Rasheed Sheikh, had recently bought an iPhone worth ₹70,000, which reportedly sparked a heated argument with his father.

According to APMC police, Rasheed’s father questioned the necessity of such a costly gadget, especially considering their financial situation. The confrontation deeply upset Rasheed, leading him to take the extreme step of ending his life.

The incident occurred shortly after the purchase, highlighting the emotional toll of generational and financial conflicts within families. While it’s unclear how the device was financed, the disagreement turned tragic, raising concerns about mental health awareness and youth decision-making pressures.
