In a significant step towards promoting ecological awareness, the Umesh Vishwanath Katti Butterfly Park and Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda Park have been unveiled near Hidkal Reservoir in Hukkeri, Belagavi district. As global warming and climate change intensify, these parks are part of an ambitious 500-acre eco-friendly initiative near the reservoir, according to Minister Khandre.

The Umesh Vishwanath Katti Butterfly Park, named in memory of the former Karnataka Forest Minister, serves as a vibrant hub to educate children about the value of trees and environmental preservation. It encourages a mindset of eco-conscious living while offering a picturesque retreat for nature enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda Park honors the celebrated environmentalist Tulsi Gowda, lauded for her tireless contributions to conservation. It emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and seeks to inspire visitors to respect and protect nature.

Future projects include a crocodile sanctuary, a bamboo grove, and a bird refuge, transforming the area into a diverse ecological destination. Besides becoming major tourist hotspots, the parks aim to act as educational centers, fostering greater community participation in environmental care.

These green initiatives underscore the region’s commitment to balancing development with ecological harmony, offering a haven for wildlife and a learning space for the next generation.
