Belagavi: Ramadurga police on Friday seized over ₹1.10 crore in cash from a village accountant near Halagatti check post in the taluk. The accountant, Vitthala Shivappa Dhavleswara of Hosur village, was carrying the money without any documents in his car.

The police acted on a tip-off and found ₹1,10,62,900 in cash after checking the car. The money was being transported towards Bagalkot via Ramadurga route. The police seized the cash and handed it over to the Income Tax Department officials.

A team led by Ramadurga DySP M. A. Eranna Pattanashetty conducted the operation. Assistant Director of Income Tax Department, Belgaum, Amita Shinde visited and inspected the seized cash. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the authorities to crack down on illegal financial transactions.
