Bengaluru: Judicial Custody of Darshan Extended for 17 Accused in Chitradurga Murder Case

Bengaluru: The 24th ACMM Court in Bengaluru has extended the judicial custody of 17 individuals, including actor Darshan and his aide Pavitra Gowda, in the Chitradurga Renukaswamy murder case until September 30. The accused, held in Bellary Jail, were presented before the court via video conference as their custody period concluded.

During the proceedings, investigators submitted additional technical evidence and reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in a sealed envelope. The court also granted permission to send the mobile phone of co-accused Vinay for further analysis by CFSL, following a request from the investigating team.

Concerns regarding the living conditions in Bellary Jail were raised, particularly for Darshan, who is reportedly deprived of basic facilities, including seating in his barracks. The actor is restricted to visits only from his wife and brother. Darshan’s lawyer requested the court to intervene and improve the infrastructure provided to the inmates.

In response, the judge questioned jail officials about the conditions and allowed family friends of the accused to visit. He also directed the authorities to ensure adequate facilities for the inmates while extending their judicial custody.
