In a strong action against misconduct, three traffic police personnel in Bengaluru have been suspended for allegedly collecting bribes after deliberately switching off their body-worn cameras while on duty.

The action was taken following an internal inquiry ordered by Anoop Shetty after multiple public complaints.

Misconduct caught in inquiry

The suspended personnel have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Suresh G, and constables Prashanth K and Sadik S B. They were attached to the High Grounds traffic police station.

According to officials, the trio was deployed near the busy Chalukya Circle, where they allegedly stopped motorists without any visible traffic violations. It is further alleged that they switched off their body cameras and demanded cash from commuters.

The inquiry, initiated on March 17, found clear evidence of misconduct and dereliction of duty.

Action reinforces accountability

Police sources stated that body-worn cameras were introduced to ensure transparency and accountability in traffic enforcement. Deliberately disabling them to engage in unlawful activities is considered a serious violation.

Officials confirmed that strict disciplinary action has been taken, sending a strong message against corruption within the force.

Authorities have also urged citizens to report any instances of bribery or harassment by traffic personnel, assuring that complaints will be taken seriously.

The incident highlights the importance of accountability mechanisms in maintaining public trust and ensuring ethical policing.
