Bengaluru: Thirty-one Bangladeshi nationals detained by police in different parts of Bengaluru have been sent to West Bengal as part of the ongoing deportation process, with the group travelling under police escort from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) on Monday.
The 31 individuals had been taken into custody by 10 different police stations across the city during police action against suspected illegal immigration. Following the necessary procedures, they were moved to SMVT Bengaluru and boarded a train bound for Malda in West Bengal.
A total of 20 police personnel accompanied the group during the journey. Security was tightened at the railway terminal before the individuals were taken to the station and placed on the train.
Group travelling under police escort
The movement of the 31 individuals from Bengaluru to West Bengal was carried out under close police supervision.
Officials made security arrangements at SMVT before the group was transported to the railway station. The police escort will remain with them during the journey to ensure that the movement is carried out in an orderly manner.
The group is expected to reach Malda Railway Station at around 5 pm on Tuesday. Once they arrive in West Bengal, the next stage of the deportation process will be handled by the concerned authorities.
M Narayana, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Electronic City Division, Bengaluru, confirmed that the 31 deportees were being taken to Malda, where further procedures would be undertaken following their arrival.
Action follows checks by multiple police stations
The individuals had been detained by 10 police stations operating in different parts of Bengaluru. Their movement to West Bengal forms part of the broader action being undertaken by Bengaluru Police against illegal immigration.
The police have been conducting checks to identify individuals suspected of staying illegally in the city and taking action in accordance with applicable legal procedures.

Police seek information from citizens
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, IPS, has appealed to residents to provide information about people suspected of staying illegally in the city.
The police have urged members of the public who have relevant information to approach the authorities rather than attempting to investigate or confront individuals themselves.
The Commissioner has also issued a caution against taking the law into one’s own hands. He stressed that any concerns regarding suspected illegal immigrants should be communicated to the police and that public cooperation must remain within the boundaries of the law.
The appeal comes amid continued police action aimed at identifying suspected illegal immigrants in different parts of Bengaluru.
Operation Muktha to continue
Bengaluru Police said Operation Muktha will continue across the city. The operation is focused on identifying suspected illegal immigrants and initiating action in accordance with the law.
The authorities are expected to continue verification and enforcement activities in different areas as part of the operation.
Police have reiterated that citizens can assist the authorities by sharing information through appropriate channels. At the same time, officials have emphasised that residents should not engage in confrontation, harassment or any action outside the legal process.
The approach is intended to ensure that investigations and subsequent action are carried out by the competent authorities.
Next stage awaits arrival in Malda
The 31 individuals are expected to reach Malda on Tuesday evening, after which the concerned authorities will take up the next stage of the deportation process.
Their journey from Bengaluru has been undertaken with a 20-member police escort, reflecting the security arrangements put in place for the movement.
The latest action comes as Bengaluru Police continues its wider crackdown on suspected illegal immigration. With Operation Muktha set to continue, authorities are expected to maintain surveillance and verification efforts across the city while relying on established legal procedures for further action.
