Fresh details have emerged in the sensational triple murder case that shocked Bengaluru, with police claiming that one of the accused allegedly used artificial intelligence (AI) to plan the killings and research the nature of fatal stab injuries.
According to investigators, software engineer J. Kenneth, arrested along with his live-in partner Shwetha, allegedly used AI tools to understand how to inflict fatal stab wounds before the murders of Shwetha’s parents, Somasundar and Muttulakshmi, and her younger sister Supriya on June 22.
The couple was arrested in Puducherry within a week of the crime.
Loans and financial pressure behind murders
Police said the murders were allegedly motivated by mounting financial stress. Investigators claim Shwetha had borrowed nearly Rs 56 lakh to support Kenneth’s lifestyle, following which repeated loan recovery notices and EMI reminders were sent to her parents’ residence in Nallurahalli.
According to the investigation, Kenneth allegedly suggested eliminating Shwetha’s family after they repeatedly questioned the couple about the unpaid loans.
Police also claimed that Shwetha had recently discovered Kenneth was allegedly in a relationship with another woman, but he reportedly dismissed her concerns by saying he was only receiving “technical help” for a proposed startup.
Murder plan took a deadly turn
Investigators said Kenneth initially planned to kill only Shwetha’s mother after inviting the family to discuss the financial issues. However, when Shwetha’s father and younger sister unexpectedly arrived at the apartment, the alleged plan escalated.
Police alleged that Kenneth fatally stabbed all three victims, while Shwetha assisted during parts of the crime. According to investigators, Somasundar briefly fought back and managed to alert neighbours before collapsing.
The accused allegedly fled Bengaluru on a motorcycle before travelling by bus to Puducherry after the vehicle reportedly broke down near Tiruvannamalai.
Police have conducted spot inspections in Tamil Nadu as part of the investigation to retrace the suspects’ escape route. Officials said further investigation is underway, and the allegations are based on the ongoing police probe.
