Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the international fellowship helping individuals recover from alcoholism, marks its 60th anniversary in Bengaluru on December 15. Operating in over 180 countries with nearly 40 lakh members, AA supports around 5,000 recovering alcoholics in Bengaluru through free, daily meetings.
“Our meetings are free, with no dues or application forms. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking,” says Rocky, an area delegate of AA. The fellowship’s cornerstone is its 12-step programme, a structured approach that helps members address their addiction and rebuild their lives. AA maintains strict anonymity, adheres to principles of self-support, and steers clear of political affiliations.
The anniversary event will include reflections on AA’s journey, heartfelt testimonials from members, and discussions about the fellowship’s impact on individuals and communities.
For anyone seeking support, Alcoholics Anonymous can be reached at their helpline: 9845587507.
