Bengaluru: Aldovia Resort & Convention, Bengaluru, has secured the highest possible ‘Excellent’ rating under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Hygiene Rating programme, marking a significant achievement for the hospitality property at a time when food safety and hygiene practices are receiving increased attention across the industry.

The prestigious rating follows a hygiene audit conducted by the HRAA on August 20. The property, which was until recently known as Clarks Exotica Convention Resort & Spa, has also received international recognition this year, adding to a series of milestones following its transition to the Aldovia brand.

FSSAI hygiene rating marks key achievement

The ‘Excellent’ rating under the FSSAI Hygiene Rating programme recognises the standards and practices followed by the resort in maintaining food safety and hygiene.

The recognition comes against the backdrop of increased scrutiny of food safety practices at hotels, clubs and restaurants in Bengaluru and other parts of the hospitality sector. With large properties catering to significant numbers of guests and hosting events, maintaining consistent food safety systems requires regular monitoring, documentation and adherence to established procedures.

For Aldovia, the rating provides an external recognition of its efforts in maintaining these systems.

The resort said the distinction assumes particular significance given the increasing focus on food safety and hygiene across the hospitality industry.

Food safety inspection conducted in August

A Food Safety and Drug Administration inspection was conducted at the property on August 8. During the inspection, officials reviewed the establishment’s food safety systems, records, documentation and operational practices.

According to the property, the inspection team appreciated the systematic manner in which food safety records and documentation were maintained. The team also acknowledged the standards and processes implemented at the establishment.

Food safety compliance at a large hospitality property extends across several areas, including food handling, storage, preparation, hygiene practices, documentation and monitoring. Maintaining records and ensuring that procedures are consistently followed are important components of such operations.

The subsequent FSSAI hygiene rating has provided the property with recognition for its overall food safety and hygiene practices.

Property transitions from Clarks Exotica

The latest achievement comes during an important phase in the property’s history.

The Bengaluru hospitality destination operated for nearly two decades as Clarks Exotica Convention Resort & Spa before being rebranded as Aldovia Resort & Convention in 2026.

The property is now developing an independent, owner-led hospitality identity while retaining the experience and operational foundation built over its years under the previous brand.

Ownership continues with the Colaco family, led by Dr Ronald Colaco, with Nigel Colaco and Randal Colaco also involved in the leadership of the property.

The transition represents an effort to establish Aldovia as an independent hospitality brand while building upon the property’s long-standing presence in Bengaluru’s hospitality sector.

Located near Bengaluru airport

Aldovia Resort & Convention is located in Swiss Town near Kempegowda International Airport and is spread across approximately 70 acres of greenery.

The property continues to cater to leisure travellers and guests while also positioning itself as a destination for conventions and large-scale events.

Its size and range of hospitality operations make systematic food safety and hygiene practices particularly important. The latest rating comes as the property seeks to establish its identity under the new Aldovia name.

International recognition in Vienna

The FSSAI recognition is not the only recent achievement for the property.

Aldovia Resort & Convention was also recognised at the WORLDCOB Bizz Awards 2026 held in Vienna, Austria. The property received the ‘World Business Leader’ award as well as the ‘Recognition of Inspirational Company’.

The awards were presented at the InterContinental Wien on August 25.

While the FSSAI rating specifically focuses on food safety and hygiene standards, the Vienna awards recognise broader aspects of business leadership and organisational performance.

The two recognitions therefore highlight different aspects of the property’s operations as it moves forward under its new identity.

Focus on standards and consistency

The management views the recent recognitions as part of Aldovia’s effort to build its identity around quality, consistency and established operational systems.

For a hospitality establishment, food safety remains one of the most important aspects of guest service. A strong rating under the FSSAI Hygiene Rating programme can also reinforce customer confidence in the processes followed by the property.

The achievement comes at a time when consumers are paying closer attention to hygiene and food safety standards when choosing hotels, restaurants and other hospitality establishments.

Dr Ronald Colaco, owner of Aldovia Resort & Convention, said the recognition was particularly gratifying given the growing importance of food safety and hygiene in the hospitality industry.

A new chapter for Aldovia

The latest recognition adds another milestone to the property’s transition from Clarks Exotica to Aldovia.

With nearly two decades of experience behind it, the property is now seeking to establish a distinct identity as an independent hospitality brand. The FSSAI ‘Excellent’ rating and the international business awards provide recognition across two different areas of its operations.

As Aldovia moves forward, maintaining the standards that contributed to these recognitions will remain important to its efforts to strengthen its position in Bengaluru’s competitive hospitality sector.

The FSSAI rating, in particular, places the focus on one of the industry’s most fundamental responsibilities — ensuring that food served to guests is prepared and handled under safe and hygienic conditions.
