Bengaluru: A road rage incident in Bengaluru’s Banaswadi has sparked concern after a video showing an auto-rickshaw driver allegedly assaulting a car driver following a minor collision went viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on August 1 near Ayyappa Swamy Temple, but came to light only after the video surfaced online on Tuesday.
Minor collision turns violent
According to police, the auto-rickshaw and the car reportedly brushed against each other, triggering an argument between the two drivers. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical assault, with the auto driver allegedly attacking the car driver in the middle of the road.
Several passersby and motorists witnessed the incident and recorded videos, which were later widely shared across social media platforms.
No complaint filed so far
Despite the video going viral and drawing widespread attention, the Banaswadi Police have not registered a case as neither of the parties involved has approached the police with a formal complaint.
Officials said legal action can be initiated if either party files a complaint or if further evidence warrants police intervention.
Road rage incidents on the rise
The incident comes amid growing concerns over road rage cases in Bengaluru. In recent weeks, several similar incidents involving motorists have been reported, raising questions about road safety and public behaviour.
Police have repeatedly urged motorists to remain calm during traffic disputes and resolve disagreements peacefully instead of resorting to violence.
Authorities have also appealed to the public to report such incidents promptly so that appropriate legal action can be taken against those responsible.
