In Bangalore, Bank of Baroda (Vijaya Bank) and the post offices located on the ground floor of the PUB building on MG Road were found closed on Saturday morning due to outstanding rent payments owed by BBMP staff.
Specifically, Shop No. 14/15 occupied by Bank of Baroda (Vijaya Bank) and Shop No. 17 housing the Post Office have not been paying the revised rent since 2011 and 2006, respectively. Additionally, no rent has been paid since December 2022. Despite several notifications requesting payment, there has been no response from either entity.
As a result, Bank of Baroda owes ₹17.56 crore in rental fees to the corporation while the post office owes ₹2.32 crore in overdue rent payments.
