Bengaluru: Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of the city ahead of Ganesha idol immersion processions scheduled for September 18. The restrictions will affect areas under the KG Halli, Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi traffic police station limits.
One procession will pass through KG Halli and Pulakeshinagar from 11 am on September 18 until 4 am on September 19. Another procession will be held in the Lingarajapuram and Banaswadi areas from 11 am to 10 pm on Friday and will conclude at Halasuru Lake.
Traffic restrictions in KG Halli and Pulakeshinagar
The Traffic Police have announced restrictions on several roads and junctions to facilitate the movement of Ganesha processions.
Restrictions will affect traffic on Nagawara Main Road, Tannery Road and Davis Road. Vehicles travelling from Netaji Junction towards Tannery Road through Pottery Circle will also face restrictions.
Traffic movement towards Pottery Junction through Clark Road will be regulated. Vehicles travelling from Rogers Road, Armstrong Road and Hall Road towards Pottery Road will also be affected.
Similarly, vehicles travelling from Mosque Junction through Clarence Bridge towards Pottery Road will face restrictions.
Traffic coming from Lazar Road and Pottery Road Junction towards Sindhi Colony Junction through Buddhavihara Road will also be regulated during the procession.
Assaye Road traffic movement changed
The Traffic Police have also changed the traffic movement pattern on Assaye Road.
The road, which normally allows movement in both directions, will have one-way traffic from War Memorial Junction towards Sindhi Colony Junction during the restrictions.
Movement between Nagawara Junction and Pottery Circle Road will also be blocked as part of the arrangements for the procession.
Commuters travelling through these areas have been advised to take note of the restrictions and plan their journeys accordingly, particularly during the hours when the processions are moving through the affected roads.
Restrictions announced in Banaswadi
Traffic curbs will also be imposed at several points in and around Banaswadi and Lingarajapuram.
Vehicles travelling from Chandrika Junction and Lingarajapuram towards the city through Hennur Bridge will face restrictions.
Traffic from Chandrika Junction towards Nehru Road, Ullasappa Junction and Kuvempu Circle will also be affected.
Restrictions have also been announced for vehicles travelling from Kalyan Nagar 80 Feet Road towards Uttam Sagar Junction.
Similarly, movement from Banaswadi Main Road towards the city through IOC Bridge will be restricted during the procession.
These measures are intended to regulate traffic movement while allowing the immersion procession to proceed through the designated routes.
Ganesha procession to conclude at Halasuru Lake
The Lingarajapuram-Banaswadi procession is scheduled to take place from 11 am to 10 pm on September 18. The procession will conclude at Halasuru Lake.
The other procession passing through KG Halli and Pulakeshinagar traffic limits will continue for a longer period, with restrictions remaining in place until 4 am on September 19.
The traffic arrangements are part of the city’s preparations for Ganesha idol immersion, when large processions are expected to move through several parts of Bengaluru.
Ganesha immersion suspended at Yediyur Lake on two days
Meanwhile, Ganesha idol immersion at the Yediyur Lake immersion tank in Yediyur Ward 105 has been suspended on September 18 and 22.
The immersion tank has arrangements for idol immersion from September 14 to 26. However, the pond is currently largely full, leaving insufficient space for further immersion on the two specified days.
Cleaning and maintenance work will be undertaken on September 18 and 22. During the work, soil and other solid waste will be removed from the tank before it is refilled with fresh water.
Public entry to the immersion tank will also be restricted while the cleaning work is being carried out. No Ganesha idol immersion will be permitted at the facility on those two days.
Commuters advised to plan journeys
With restrictions covering several important roads in KG Halli, Pulakeshinagar, Lingarajapuram and Banaswadi, motorists may experience changes in their usual routes on September 18.
The Traffic Police arrangements are intended to manage vehicle movement around the procession routes and facilitate the safe movement of participants and idols towards the immersion points.
Motorists travelling through the affected neighbourhoods should check the announced restrictions before starting their journey and use alternative routes where required.
The traffic restrictions will remain in force for the specified periods and may affect regular movement around the procession routes, particularly during peak procession hours.
