A 20-year-old college intern in Bengaluru shared a distressing encounter with an auto driver, highlighting harassment and threats. Taking to X, the student recounted how the driver demanded ₹200 extra without reason, used racial slurs, and threatened to attack him outside his office.

In videos shared by the student, the driver’s aggressive behavior was evident. The situation escalated when the driver summoned two drunk friends, forcing the student to pay ₹500—₹400 in cash and ₹100 via UPI—despite the app showing ₹380 as the fare.

“Just a college intern returning from my workplace, I was harassed and threatened. He demanded ₹200 extra and used racial slurs,” the student posted. Bengaluru police quickly responded, asking for details via direct message to investigate the incident.

Namma Yatri, the auto service involved, also issued an apology, stating, “We deeply regret this unacceptable experience. Your safety is our priority, and we’re committed to preventing such incidents.” The ride-hailing app confirmed immediate action by blocking the driver from their platform and issuing a refund.

The incident has reignited concerns about safety in Bengaluru’s public transport system, with many calling for stricter regulation and accountability.
