Bengaluru Police have registered criminal cases against seven house owners for failing to submit the mandatory Form C after providing accommodation to foreign nationals, in violation of immigration regulations.
Seven cases registered across three police stations
According to police, the accused landlords did not file Form C—the mandatory Foreigner’s Registration Form—within the stipulated time after hosting foreign nationals.
The cases have been registered at three police stations across the city, with four cases at Banaswadi Police Station, one at J.B. Nagar Police Station, and two at Pulakeshinagar Police Station.
Officials said the action was taken under the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Form C submission mandatory within 24 hours
Under Indian immigration rules, all hotels, lodges, guest houses, homestays, hospitals, landlords and other accommodation providers hosting foreign nationals are required to submit Form C online to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within 24 hours of the guest’s arrival.
Police emphasised that the requirement is designed to help authorities maintain accurate records of foreign nationals staying in the country and to strengthen public safety and security.
Violators face legal action
Authorities warned that failure to submit Form C is a punishable offence. Those found guilty may face imprisonment, a monetary fine, or both, depending on the nature of the violation.
In addition to criminal proceedings, hotels and other accommodation providers may also face administrative action, including suspension or cancellation of their operating licences.
