A 37-year-old cab driver was found dead inside his parked vehicle near Nelagedarahalli in north Bengaluru on Monday morning, triggering concern among local residents.

The deceased has been identified as Puneeth, a resident of HMT Layout and originally from Channarayapatna in Hassan district.

Car remained parked for hours

According to locals, Puneeth had parked his cab by the roadside around 10 am. Residents reportedly became suspicious after noticing that the vehicle remained stationary for several hours without any movement.

Concerned locals later approached the car and found Puneeth lying motionless inside the locked vehicle with the air-conditioner still switched on.

Locals break window to rescue driver

As there was no response from inside the vehicle, residents allegedly broke open a window using a stone and unlocked the door.

Police and locals immediately shifted Puneeth to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that he may have suffered a cardiac arrest, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed after further examination.

Police begin investigation

Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Officials said they are examining all possible angles and awaiting further medical reports.
