Bengaluru: Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayanand has issued a stern warning to staff and officers against posting non-official content on social media while in uniform. This includes photos, videos, and reels that may give the impression of being related to official police work.
The commissioner emphasized that such posts are against department rules and regulations and can undermine the dignity of the police force. He reminded personnel that the police uniform symbolizes commitment, dedication, and accountability, and its use in public or digital forums should reflect these values.
Dayanand cited the Karnataka State Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, which prohibit government servants from sharing official documents or information on social media without authorization. Only authorized officials are permitted to share official information through designated social media accounts.
The commissioner instructed DCPs of all divisions to ensure that personnel comply with this directive, warning that any lapses will be taken seriously.
