Bengaluru: A founder’s post comparing coconut water prices across Indian cities has sparked an online debate over the cost of everyday essentials in Bengaluru.
Paritsh Sharrma, who posted on X on August 16, said coconut water cost around Rs 60 in Delhi-NCR and Rs 50–70 in Pune, while he paid around Rs 100–120 for a coconut in Bengaluru. He questioned why prices were higher in Bengaluru despite the city being closer to the coast.

Sharrma said his experience added to his concerns about Bengaluru’s overall cost of living, claiming that residents often pay more for essentials such as rent, transport and food.
His post quickly attracted attention online, with users debating whether the quoted coconut water prices accurately represented what consumers generally pay across the city.

Several social media users disputed the claim that coconut water routinely costs Rs 100–120 in Bengaluru.
One user said prices could range between Rs 40 and Rs 70 depending on the area, while another claimed to pay Rs 70 for coconut water within their housing society.
The comparison also drew disagreement over Delhi-NCR prices. One user said they pay Rs 100 for coconut water in South Delhi, questioning the reported Rs 60 figure.
The varied responses suggest that prices can differ considerably depending on the location, seller and neighbourhood.
