In a disturbing cybercrime case, the Bengaluru Cyber Command Centre (CCC) has exposed an alleged child exploitation racket involving two orphaned girls aged 11 and 12 after explicit videos were found circulating online.

Police said the case surfaced after the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) flagged suspicious online activity involving child sexual abuse material.

Two accused arrested

Authorities arrested Kiran Kumar Nayak, a 29-year-old cattle grazer from Kaidallipalya, and Aditya M K, a 20-year-old swimming pool maintenance worker from Channapatna.

Police alleged that the accused sexually assaulted the minors, recorded explicit videos, and circulated them online for money.

Investigators said the girls had lost both parents in recent years and were living with their uncle, who allegedly facilitated the exploitation. Officials confirmed that the uncle is absconding and a manhunt is underway.

Cyber surveillance led to breakthrough

The case was reportedly cracked after cyber surveillance teams detected suspicious uploads linked to online pornography distribution.

Officials recovered three mobile phones containing illegal content involving the minors. Statements from the girls were recorded under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act.

Police are now investigating the wider circulation network of the videos and possible involvement of additional individuals.

Concerns over child safety

Child rights activists and welfare experts have raised concerns over failures in child protection systems, noting that the abuse allegedly continued for more than a year before being detected.

The case has once again highlighted growing concerns around crimes against women and children in Bengaluru despite the city’s reputation as India’s technology hub
