Bengaluru: A double murder case in Chikkabanavara has taken a disturbing turn, with police arresting 26-year-old Harini for allegedly killing her husband, Abhinandan, 35, and later strangling their four-year-old son, Yaduveer. Investigators suspect the child may have been killed after witnessing his father’s murder.
Police uncover a disturbing sequence
According to investigators, Harini allegedly conspired with her alleged lover, Vinay, to kill Abhinandan at their residence. Police suspect the child witnessed the incident and was subsequently killed because he could potentially reveal what had happened.
Investigators believe an attempt was then made to make the deaths appear different from a double murder, with the bodies allegedly positioned to suggest that the father had killed his son before dying himself.
CCTV and blood stains raise suspicion
The case reportedly came under scrutiny after police found inconsistencies in Harini’s initial account of the deaths.
Investigators found blood stains and alleged that clothes carrying blood marks had been washed and left out to dry. Police also discovered that the CCTV cameras at the house had been switched off before the incident.
Police further suspect that phone records and other digital evidence may have been deliberately erased.
Marital dispute and property angle examined
Police said Harini and Abhinandan had been facing marital problems and frequently argued. Investigators are also examining her alleged relationship with Vinay.
A possible property motive is being investigated as well. Reports say Abhinandan was the only son of his parents and owned property worth crores of rupees, including a three-storey building in Chikkabanavara.
Harini was questioned for several hours before police said she confessed to the killings. She has been arrested, while efforts are continuing to trace Vinay and establish the complete sequence of events.
The allegations remain subject to the ongoing investigation and due legal process.
