A 40-year-old carpenter, Ravi Kumar, was arrested in Bengaluru’s KS Layout on charges of murdering his 14-year-old son, R. Tejas, following a heated dispute over the boy’s behavior. The tragic incident unfolded at their Kashninagar home, where Kumar assaulted Tejas with a wooden log and cricket bat before slamming his head against a wall.

The argument erupted after Tejas requested his father repair the mobile phone he and his brother used for gaming. According to Tejas’ mother, Shashikala, Kumar was frustrated with his son’s academic struggles and irregular attendance. Losing his temper, Kumar attacked Tejas and then left for work, leaving the boy unconscious.

By afternoon, Shashikala took Tejas to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. When questioned, Kumar initially claimed Tejas had died of a sudden illness and began hasty funeral preparations. However, Shashikala sought help from neighbors and alerted the police.

Upon their arrival, Shashikala narrated the events and filed a formal complaint against her husband. The police intervened, stopped the last rites, and arrested Kumar for the crime.

The investigation is ongoing, and the case has sent shockwaves across the city, highlighting the dire consequences of unchecked parental anger.
