What started as a simple act of kindness at the airport quickly turned into a misplaced luggage mystery — and a self-led recovery — for one Bengaluru passenger flying with Akasa Air.
Sharing his experience on Reddit in a post titled “Lost my bag in an airport bus – Akasa told me 3–5 days, but I found it in 20 minutes,” the traveller recounted how he helped a fellow passenger struggling with excess baggage at the airport. Coincidentally, they turned out to be seatmates on the flight and neighbours from HSR Layout. After landing, they decided to take the airport bus together.
As the Redditor dozed off during the ride, he placed his black Safari bag under the central luggage rack. When he woke up, it was gone — replaced by a shinier bag with a green stripe.
Panicked, he contacted Akasa Air, only to be told it would take 3–5 days for the recovery process to begin. But waiting wasn’t an option, with work looming.
Thinking on his feet, he checked the name tag on the wrong bag, looked up the PNR via Akasa’s website, retrieved the contact number from the e-ticket, and called the person who had mistakenly taken his bag. Fortunately, the man lived nearby in Koramangala. They met the next day, and the luggage was returned safely.
Reflecting on the experience, the poster wrote: “No hero moment. Just calm thinking and doing the obvious helped more than the system.”
