Bengaluru: After enduring several hot and humid days, Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka finally saw a refreshing shift in the weather on Friday. Light rain, overcast skies, and gusty winds brought much-needed relief, with more isolated showers expected in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Yelahanka experienced an early downpour with strong winds that uprooted trees in the area. The city centre recorded 0.8mm of rainfall, while Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) received 1.8mm. The day began with heavy cloud cover and saw rainfall by noon. The temperature touched a high of 34°C and dipped to 22°C at night.

However, the weather did cause disruptions. BESCOM reported tree falls and a broken electricity post in Rajanakunte. Power cuts were also noted in Magadi Road, Kengeri, and parts of Shivaji Nagar due to the winds.

The IMD has issued a forecast for light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in isolated areas over the next four days. Likely impacted districts include Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Ballari, and Chamarajanagar, among others. While southern and coastal Karnataka may see showers, some interior districts may remain dry.

The current shift in weather is due to a weakening low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which still holds a cyclonic circulation up to 1.5 km above sea level.

Looking ahead, Bengaluru can expect partly cloudy skies with the chance of light rain or thundershowers over the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to stay around 33°C during the day and 22°C at night.

⚠️ Planned Power Outage Alert – Sunday (11am to 3pm)
