The FMSCI Indian National Rally Sprint Championship for two-wheelers is set to hold the second leg of the South Zone qualifiers in Bengaluru this Sunday. Top riders, including Sachin D, Yuva Kumar, and the experienced Asad Khan, will showcase their skills. Bengaluru’s Suhail Ahmad, who dominated multiple categories in the first leg in Chennai, will also compete.
A record 140 entries and a challenging 7 km course promise an action-packed event at the Stellar 23 Farms in Sarjapur. Notably, this round will introduce the EV category for the first time in Indian Motorsport, featuring the Ather 450x in an off-road event.
Asad Khan expressed excitement about the new categories, especially the EVs, highlighting the global buzz around electric vehicles. He noted that this addition is a new challenge and a significant step for newcomers. “Sprint rally or single-day format is something which is lacking in Indian motorsports. This sets a platform for all youngsters and newcomers. More such formats should be introduced to bring in new talent,” Khan said.
Meanwhile, Sachin, a six-time national champion of TVS Racing, is eager to make a comeback after a shoulder injury. He anticipates a slippery and challenging race due to the rains and high number of entries. “I’m looking forward to making a comeback on my home turf,” he said.
With its mix of seasoned riders and exciting new categories, the Bengaluru leg of the championship is set to be a thrilling event for motorsport enthusiasts.
