Bengaluru: A 34-year-old Bengaluru-based fitness influencer and nutritionist has lodged a complaint alleging prolonged stalking, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation by a man from Haryana, following which the city police have arrested the accused and launched a detailed investigation.
Complaint of sustained harassment
According to the complaint filed by the woman, the accused has been identified as Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Haryana. The complainant, who is also originally from Haryana and has been living in Bengaluru for nearly 15 years, alleged that Sudhir has been harassing her continuously since March 2025.
Police said the harassment began with repeated attempts to contact the woman through messages and social media platforms and gradually escalated into stalking and sexually explicit threats. Despite the complainant making it clear that she did not wish to maintain any form of contact, the accused allegedly continued to pursue her.
Incident at family home in Haryana
The situation reportedly worsened on May 10, 2025, when Sudhir Kumar allegedly travelled to the woman’s family home in Rewari district of Haryana. During this visit, he is accused of engaging in unruly and intimidating behaviour, causing distress to the woman and her family members.
Following this incident, the woman and her family warned the accused to stay away and cease all communication. However, police said the accused ignored these warnings and continued to harass the woman through digital platforms.
Threatening and sexually explicit messages
As per details mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR), Sudhir Kumar allegedly sent multiple abusive, threatening, and sexually explicit messages to the complainant on WhatsApp. In some of these messages, he reportedly threatened to travel to Bengaluru and sexually assault her.
Police officials stated that the messages were sent without the woman’s consent and contained explicit descriptions that insulted her modesty. The complainant has provided screenshots and digital evidence of these communications to the police.
Harassment through social media
The FIR further states that between October 24 and December 20, 2025, the accused sent several sexually explicit and provocative messages to the woman through Instagram. Even after she blocked him, Sudhir allegedly created or used alternate social media accounts to continue contacting her.
Police said the accused made repeated lewd remarks and sexually harassing comments, causing severe mental trauma to the complainant. Investigators are examining the social media accounts and digital trail to corroborate the allegations.
Visit to gym in Bengaluru
According to police, the accused also allegedly visited the woman’s gym in Bengaluru on January 12, 2026, and enquired about her. This incident further alarmed the complainant, who felt that the accused was attempting to track her movements and intimidate her.
Based on this development and the continued harassment, the woman approached the Bengaluru Police and filed a formal complaint.
Police action and arrest
Acting on the complaint, Bengaluru Police registered a case against Sudhir Kumar under relevant sections pertaining to sexual harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation, and insulting the modesty of a woman. After verifying the preliminary evidence, police traced and arrested the accused.
A senior police officer said the arrest was made to prevent any further harassment and to ensure the safety of the complainant. The accused has been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Investigation under way
Police said a detailed investigation is under way, including forensic analysis of mobile phones, social media accounts, and message records. Officials are also examining whether the accused has a history of similar behaviour or complaints.
The police reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals who misuse social media and digital platforms to harass or threaten women. They also urged victims of online and offline harassment to approach the police without fear.
Conclusion
The case highlights the growing concern over cyberstalking and harassment faced by women, particularly those in the public eye. Police officials stressed the importance of timely reporting and assured that Bengaluru Police remain committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of women through swift and impartial action.
