Bengaluru: A 20-year-old college student has lodged a complaint with Ashoknagar Police alleging that her apartment owner sexually harassed her while she was alone at her residence in Shantinagar.
The student, who has reportedly been living in the apartment on Burley Street for around two-and-a-half months, is pursuing her third year of B.Voc in Digital Media and Animation at a private college.
Student alleges harassment at home
According to the complaint, the apartment owner, identified as Kamlesh Kumar, visited her residence around 6.25 pm on August 15 to inspect pending repair work.
The student was reportedly alone at the time. After inspecting the repair work, Kumar allegedly began asking her about her college.
She alleged that he then held her hand and attempted to look at her mehendi. When she tried to pull her hand away, he allegedly pulled her towards him and molested her.
The student further alleged that Kumar continued to sexually harass her despite her attempts to move away and told her not to worry or be afraid.
She also alleged that he asked her to inform him whenever she had 10 to 15 minutes free, saying that he liked her and wanted to be around her.
FIR registered for investigation
Based on the complaint, Ashoknagar Police have registered an FIR against Kamlesh Kumar under Sections 74 and 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case has been registered for further investigation into the allegations.
The allegations are part of the complaint and have not been established in court.
