Bengaluru: In an effort to strengthen community participation in traffic management, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has launched a dedicated website for the Bengaluru City Police Traffic Warden Organisation (BCPTWO), making it easier for citizens to register as volunteer traffic wardens.

The online portal aims to streamline the recruitment process and encourage more civic-minded residents to assist traffic police in tackling the city’s growing congestion and increasing enforcement demands.

Easier registration for volunteers

Launching the portal, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the initiative would help expand the network of volunteer traffic wardens, who have been supporting the traffic police for nearly four decades.

“Traffic wardens are already working shoulder-to-shoulder with our personnel on the ground. If more citizens register through this platform, it will provide us with much-needed additional manpower and strength to manage the roads better,” he said.

Four decades of community service

The Bengaluru City Police Traffic Warden Organisation, established in 1985, is a voluntary civic body comprising professionals from diverse fields, including doctors, engineers, advocates and corporate employees.

Traffic wardens assist police in regulating traffic, promoting road safety awareness and managing vehicle movement during emergencies, festivals, public events, processions and unexpected road blockages. They often work alongside police personnel for extended hours to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Portal provides complete information

The newly launched website offers detailed information on eligibility criteria, registration procedures, volunteer responsibilities, shift preferences, minimum weekly commitments and uniform guidelines. Officials said the digital platform is designed to make the onboarding process simple and convenient for interested citizens.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police has urged residents to actively participate in the initiative, stressing that community involvement is vital to improving road discipline and addressing the city’s persistent traffic challenges
