A tragic incident unfolded at Bengaluru’s Magadi Road metro station around 8 pm on Monday night when a 30-year-old man named Sagar attempted suicide by jumping onto the tracks of the Purple Line metro. Fortunately, the train did not hit him, but he sustained a head injury. Sagar was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials were alerted immediately, and the power supply to the tracks was partially disabled to ensure safety. The incident caused a disruption in metro services at KSR Bengaluru, Magadi Road, Hosahalli, Vijayanagar, Attiguppe, and Deepanjali Nagar stations. However, services resumed after a 30-minute interruption.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of individuals jumping onto metro tracks in Bengaluru. In March, a 19-year-old law student tragically died after jumping onto the tracks and being hit by a train. More recently, a man stepped onto the viaduct area of Kengeri metro station, causing disruptions between Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri stations.

BMRCL has responded by deploying additional security staff at all metro stations and issuing stern warnings about the serious consequences of venturing onto the tracks.
