Bengaluru: A man from Bihar feared he had lost his MacBook worth around Rs 2 lakh forever after the device and other belongings fell onto a rain-soaked road. However, an e-rickshaw driver who found the missing box returned everything, leaving him deeply moved by the stranger’s honesty and kindness.
MacBook box falls during heavy rain
Harshit Sureka said he was returning home from the gym when the top box attached to the back of his bike fell off somewhere along the route. He realised the box was missing only after reaching home and getting off his bike.
The box contained his MacBook, valued at around Rs 2 lakh, along with a personal diary and several other important belongings.
Worried about the loss, Harshit immediately turned around and began retracing his route despite the heavy rain. He searched nearly 3-4 km of road and stopped people along the way to ask whether they had seen a box fall from a motorcycle.
E-rickshaw driver picks up the lost belongings
His search eventually led to a breakthrough when someone informed him that the box had fallen at a particular location and that an e-rickshaw driver had picked it up.
Harshit then went to a police station to report the loss. While there, he remembered that the box carried stickers displaying his Instagram and YouTube handles.
He checked his Instagram message requests and discovered a message containing the phone number of the e-rickshaw driver who had found the box.
Harshit immediately contacted the driver, who confirmed that he had the missing belongings. He then travelled another 5 km in the opposite direction to meet him.
Driver refuses reward
When the two finally met, Harshit was able to recover his MacBook, diary and the other belongings from the box.
Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, Harshit offered the driver some money as a token of appreciation. However, the driver refused to accept any reward.
The gesture left Harshit deeply touched. Sharing the incident on Instagram, he thanked the driver and said he did not know how else to express his gratitude for his honesty.
Harshit urges people to trust kindness
Reflecting on the experience, Harshit urged people not to become cynical or judge everyone based on the actions of a few individuals.
He said the incident had reminded him that the world still had good people and that acts of kindness could eventually come back in unexpected ways.
