Bengaluru: A Bengaluru commuter’s attempt to reach home by autorickshaw ended with him abandoning the ride and walking the remaining distance after getting stuck in traffic for nearly half an hour.
Shivang shared a video of the experience on Instagram, showing a heavily congested junction where vehicles appeared to be barely moving. Despite being only around 1–2 km from home, he decided that walking would be quicker than remaining stuck in the autorickshaw.
Rs 150 auto ride comes to a standstill
Shivang said he had taken an autorickshaw for Rs 150 and expected to reach home without much difficulty. However, the vehicle soon became caught in traffic near a busy square.
According to him, the stretch leading towards the junction took around 25 to 30 minutes to cross. With traffic moving extremely slowly, his journey was taking far longer than expected.
As time was running short and his home was within walking distance, Shivang eventually decided to get out of the autorickshaw and continue the journey on foot.
“I still got down there because there was no option. I had to reach home quickly, so just walk,” he said in the video.
Empty road leaves commuter frustrated
The video showed Shivang turning his camera towards a road beside the congested junction. While the main stretch was packed with vehicles, the adjoining road appeared comparatively empty.
The contrast appeared to add to his frustration, particularly as he was already close to his destination.
“This is Bengaluru traffic,” Shivang said, capturing the situation that had forced him to abandon his ride.
He then began walking towards home, leaving the autorickshaw behind in the traffic jam.
Commuters relate to traffic ordeal
The video has drawn reactions from other Bengaluru commuters, with several people appearing to relate to the experience.
For people travelling through the city regularly, traffic congestion can turn relatively short journeys into lengthy commutes. A distance of a few kilometres may take significantly longer when vehicles get trapped around busy junctions.
In Shivang’s case, the remaining journey was reportedly just 1–2 km, making walking a more practical option than waiting for the traffic to clear.
The incident also highlighted the frustration of paying for a ride but still having to complete a substantial part of the journey on foot because of congestion.
