Bengaluru: Bengaluru’s growing love for pets is reaching new heights, with lavish birthday celebrations for dogs becoming increasingly popular. From themed parties and designer outfits to customised cakes and professional photoshoots, pet parents are now spending as much as ₹2 lakh to celebrate their furry companions’ special day.

Pet cafés and resorts across the city say pet birthdays have evolved from simple cake-cutting ceremonies into elaborate events that rival celebrity celebrations.

Luxury celebrations become a trend

According to Lawrence, founder of Snoopy Pet Cafe, the venue now hosts three to four pet birthday parties every week.

While basic celebrations begin at around ₹3,000, premium packages can cost anywhere between ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh. These include themed decorations, customised costumes, gourmet pet-friendly menus, photographers and playdates with 10 to 20 canine guests.

Beyond cakes and balloons

At Pet Cart Nest, founder Shekhar Gaonkar said pet birthdays are now often planned more meticulously than human celebrations.

Many events feature exclusive swimming pool sessions, customised treats, professional photography and décor carefully coordinated with the birthday pet’s outfit. Some pet owners even reserve venues several months in advance to ensure every detail is perfect.

Celebrating every milestone

The trend is no longer limited to birthdays. Venu’s Pet Care reports that pet owners are also organising canine “baby showers”, adoption anniversaries and birthday celebrations combined with feeding drives for stray dogs.

Such events typically cost between ₹6,000 and ₹20,000, allowing pet lovers to celebrate while contributing to animal welfare.

Dogs continue to account for the majority of these celebrations, while similar events for cats remain relatively uncommon.

A growing pet culture

The rise of premium pet celebrations reflects Bengaluru’s expanding pet care industry and the increasingly important role pets play in many families. As spending on pet wellness, grooming and experiences continues to grow, birthday celebrations have become another way for owners to express their affection for their four-legged companions.

For many pet parents, these celebrations are no longer just parties—they are cherished family moments shared with friends, fellow pet lovers and their beloved companions.
