A paying guest (PG) accommodation owner in Bengaluru’s Mico Layout has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a young woman staying at his facility. The incident took place on June 21, when the accused, Raviteja Reddy, reportedly lured the woman into a room under the guise of questioning her about a missing ring, according to India Today.

Once isolated, he allegedly misbehaved and went on to sexually assault her despite her resistance, police officials said. Traumatized, the victim initially sought medical help at a private hospital. She later found the courage to file a complaint at the Mico Layout Police Station. Based on her statement, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Bengaluru police acted swiftly, arresting Reddy and placing him in 14-day judicial custody. Investigators are now collecting evidence, examining CCTV footage, and recording witness testimonies to build the case.

The incident has renewed concerns over women’s safety in PG accommodations across the city. Authorities have advised PG owners and public institutions to reinforce security measures. Survivors are also being encouraged to promptly report instances of harassment or assault.

This disturbing event follows another case reported on June 6, when a man allegedly harassed two women in Cooke Town within minutes. Both incidents have intensified public outcry, demanding stricter enforcement and surveillance in residential and public areas.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have assured strict legal action.
